Charlotte Goodger

A bit of background about you and your role at JE

Charlotte joined JE Consulting in October as its latest PR Copywriter. She comes to us from another marketing agency, where she worked on a range of campaigns focusing on the commercial property sector.

Prior to that, she graduated from the University of Birmingham in English and Creative Writing in 2021 before returning to complete her MA in Creative Writing, after which she freelanced and worked in the university careers service – ironically – while working out what she wanted to do.

Her role at JEC is varied, but so far she has particularly enjoyed producing press release content and conducting interviews for award submissions.

Favourite food

Sushi – especially if it’s got salmon and avocado.

Favourite destination

The New York High Line. It’s amazing to see such a green and peaceful place in one of the busiest places in the world.

Interests

Reading – Pretty much anything, but I particularly enjoy postmodernist novels and gothic writing. My favourite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Shirley Jackson and Helen Oyeyemi.

Exploring – I love exploring different cities in the UK and overseas. My favourites so far have been Bristol, Vienna, Barcelona and Copenhagen.

Writing – I started an online publication dedicated to women’s gothic fiction earlier this year and I’m currently collating the first entries from a collection of writers.

Crafts – Although I’m not that visual, I love trying new ways of making things – I’m currently working on learning to crochet and sew.

Who do you admire most, and why?

David Attenborough. Aside from being the national treasure, he has contributed a lot to environmental efforts and produced some of the most beautiful, thought-provoking series I’ve ever seen, even well into his nineties.

If you could have one wish, what would it be?

That I could know exactly what life was like for ordinary people in different periods – especially social history like clothing, family dynamics and leisure activities.

Who would you most like to have dinner with?

My grandfather. I’d love to hear his thoughts on the world today – he was a clever, cynical and funny man who wouldn’t believe some of the things that have happened in the last few years.
