Elon Musk can’t keep himself out of the headlines recently. It seems we can’t go a week without some update on the entrepreneur’s running of the social media platform Twitter. Well, it was Twitter, until Mr Musk decided to rename the brand to ‘X’.
Many have questioned the decision to rebrand what is one of the most globally recognised companies in the world, and for some, it seems like another step towards the demise of the application formerly known as Twitter.
Threads – A storm in a teacup?
Recently, we looked into Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s launch of Threads, a seemingly direct rival to Twitter X. There was incredible hype around the launch of Threads, however, this seems to have died down in the past few weeks.
Mr Zuckerberg himself said that Threads users are already down by half, so is it all just a case of after the lord mayor’s show?
Well, as we said before, it is still very early to say whether Threads will dethrone Twitter X. While the rebranding has gone down quite negatively, user engagement is still quite high.
This could be down to the longevity of the platform; many will have been users for a number of years where they have built up a strong follower base. The jump to Threads could mean having to rebuild that follower base, and quite frankly, people do not have the time or patience while Twitter X still lives.
For now, Twitter X still stands out as a unique tool that allows companies to engage with their audience in real time. For professional services firms, the platform can still be a powerful channel to attract new clients and retain existing ones. Let us look at how:
Building a Strong Brand Presence
X provides an excellent platform for professional services firms to build and strengthen their brand. By consistently sharing valuable content, insights, and thought leadership, firms can position themselves as experts in their field. This not only attracts potential clients but also builds trust with existing ones.
Engaging in Real-Time Conversations
X’s real-time nature allows firms to engage with their audience instantly. This can be particularly useful for addressing client queries, concerns, or feedback. Quick, responsive, and helpful replies can significantly enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.
Leveraging hashtags
Mr Musk could rename Twitter to anything as ludicrous as he feels, but one thing that is for sure is that hashtags won’t be disappearing. Hashtags are a powerful tool on X. They can help professional services firms reach a wider audience, engage in industry conversations, and increase visibility. By using relevant hashtags, firms can ensure their content is seen by potential clients who are interested in their services.
Sharing client success stories
Sharing client success stories or testimonials on X can be an effective way to attract new clients. These stories provide proof of the firm’s capabilities and build trust with potential clients.
Promoting events and webinars
Professional services firms often host events, webinars, or workshops. X is an excellent platform to promote these events, attract attendees, and engage with them during and after the event.
Advertising
Ads on X can help professional services firms reach a larger, targeted audience. Firms can use the platform’s advanced targeting options to reach potential clients based on their interests, location, and more.
Monitoring and analytics
The analytics tools on X can provide valuable insights into what content resonates with the audience, the best times to post, and how the firm’s strategy is impacting its overall business goals.
Is X right for your firm?
Whatever its name, X still offers numerous opportunities for professional services firms to engage with new clients and retain existing ones.
However, the turbulent goings-on surrounding Elon Musk’s company and his apparent disregard for its future should leave us all in a state of wariness about how much longer this social media platform will remain a viable marketing tool.
Given current events, firms need to consider whether X is the right avenue for them to promote their brand and grow their business.
